Regarding the OPEKEPE case and the responsibilities of Georgios Mylonakis, the Tempi tragedy, rumors about Maria Karystianou creating a political party, and Alexis Tsipras, the leader of Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) Zoi Konstantopoulou spoke on Parapolitika 90.1 radio show “Apenanti Mikrofona” with Vassilis Skouris and Sotiris Xenakis.
Zoi Konstantopoulou on OPEKEPE: Mitsotakis and Mylonakis knew about the secret investigation by prosecutors
Regarding Georgios Mylonakis and the allegations of surveillance of ruling party MPs, she said: “It emerges that Mr. Mylonakis, representing the Prime Minister’s office, was calling MPs in June 2024 for the cabinet reshuffle that followed the European election results. Some MPs who knew they would be appointed as ministers, and had been informed of this, were called to the Prime Minister’s office and told ‘Mitsotakis wanted to make you a minister, but he won’t because there are conversations on your phone that has been wiretapped and there is evidence regarding OPEKEPE.’ What is extremely serious is that the government, Mr. Mitsotakis, and specifically Mr. Mylonakis who made these invitations to the Prime Minister’s office, knew about the secret investigation by prosecutors. This essentially means enormous endangerment of the integrity not only of the investigation but also of the prosecutors’ lives. When prosecutors are monitoring a criminal organization and someone is monitoring them, knowing what they are investigating and taking actions that essentially pre-empt situations and notify persons under surveillance that ‘you were caught there and this evidence exists,’ then we are talking about complete confirmation of felony activity.”
“Mr. Mylonakis has been Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister for 15 months and everyone knows, and he himself spreads the word, that he is the Prime Minister’s right-hand man, that Mitsotakis does nothing without him, and that he is Mitsotakis’s voice. He was called to Parliament to answer on this issue – what could be more institutional, democratic and transparent – and what did he do? He evaded through claiming incompetence, having a Parliamentary service say that the minister declares himself incompetent… When you are accused of such serious things and instead of going to Parliament and saying ‘this is not true, this is what happened’ and having the counter-argument, the current question procedure in Parliament is a confrontation procedure, Mr. Mylonakis didn’t want to do this because obviously he fears he will be exposed even more criminally for his involvement and preferred instead of answering me in Parliament to post on Facebook saying ‘I am incompetent and these questions are outside the institutional framework.’ Why? This is a huge issue concerning transparency!” she added.
On Tempi
Regarding the Tempi case, she said the government has done everything to cover for Triantopoulos and Karamanlis. I am and will always be on the side of all the families, she emphasized.
About rumors of Maria Karystianou creating a political party, she said: “Maria Karystianou is fighting a sacred battle and has managed to mobilize many people, and also honor her child in the most admirable way. I am beside her, as with all parents. It is every citizen’s right to form a party. Maria Karystianou has answered negatively so many times, her struggle must be respected and she should not be targeted.”
On Plefsi Eleftherias
Regarding Plefsi Eleftherias, she noted it has been recorded in citizens’ consciousness as the real and only opposition in Parliament. She added that they will not be silenced no matter what happens. “We see solid and increasing public trust towards Plefsi Eleftherias,” she explained.
On Alexis Tsipras
When asked about Alexis Tsipras and intense rumors about founding a party, she answered “I’m bored.”
