Following statements by Antonis Samaras and Adonis Georgiadis, Dimitris Avramopoulos, former European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship in the European Union, issued his own statement regarding the Novartis case. “Justice has taken the first step. Now the convicted themselves must speak and reveal who told them to testify falsely. Who were the moral perpetrators, who organized and directed this web of lies?” emphasized Mr. Avramopoulos, among other things, following the court decision that imposed 25 months imprisonment on Destebasidis and 33 on Marangeli with a three-year suspension.
Dimitris Avramopoulos: His statement on Novartis
“The conviction of the two hooded witnesses for perjury constitutes the full revelation of the conspiracy that poisoned public life for years and attempted to fabricate guilt where none existed. Justice has taken the first step. Now the convicted themselves must speak and reveal who told them to testify falsely. Who were the moral perpetrators, who organized and directed this web of lies.
Society demands answers and cannot be satisfied with only the executors. The truth must reach the masterminds and directors. Because only in this way will citizens’ trust in Justice and institutions be restored.
The conspiracy has been revealed. What remains is to reveal the conspirators“.
