As has happened in similar cases in the past, the MPs were appointed based on letters sent to the Parliament Speaker’s office by the parliamentary groups of the parties. It is noted that the independent MP who will participate in the proceedings was selected through a draw. It is recalled that parliamentary inquiry committees have all the powers of investigative authorities, as well as those of misdemeanor prosecutors, and conduct any investigation they deem necessary to achieve the purpose for which they were established. Additionally, they have the right to request oral or written information from public authorities, administrations of public and private law entities, as well as from citizens, to summon and examine witnesses, to conduct on-site inspections or order expert examinations. The deadline for completing the Committee’s work and submitting its findings is set at three (3) months from its formation, without excluding the possibility of extension if needed.
