The Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence is preparing to integrate a new innovative functionality into the Gov.gr Wallet application, which is expected to significantly facilitate citizens’ daily lives. Specifically, the new feature will allow every citizen to have immediate and secure access to their Personal Number (P.A.) through their digital wallet. The service will operate through a special framework that will be added to the application. After the necessary identification process, citizens will be able to view their Personal Number at any time, ensuring easy and immediate access to this information. This new functionality has particular value for citizens who obtained their new type of identity card before receiving their P.A., as this specific information is not printed on their identity cards. With this addition, this gap is covered and equal access to important personal information is ensured.
Dimitris Papastergiou: Every new digital service is another step towards a simpler, friendlier, more transparent and more effective state
“We are continuously strengthening Gov.gr Wallet with new capabilities, in order to establish it as a basic tool for citizen interaction with the state. Among other things, in the new Gov.gr Wallet, citizens will be able to see their Personal Number at any time, so they can remember it whenever needed. The Gov.gr Wallet in its new updated version, the Personal Number that brings order to public records by correcting errors in citizens’ data, all the digital reforms and projects we implement, compose Greece’s gov.gr. A Greece that leaves behind pathologies and mentalities of the past and continuously gains citizens’ trust. Every new digital service is another step towards a simpler, friendlier, more transparent and more effective state,” declared the Minister of Digital Governance and AI, Dimitris Papastergiou.
It is reminded that, based on the new institutional framework, issuing an identity card requires prior issuance of a Personal Number. The integration of the new service into Gov.gr Wallet represents another step in the ministry’s strategy for digital transformation of the state and strengthening the digital era. Through this, Gov.gr Wallet evolves into a basic tool for interaction between state and citizens.
At this year’s 89th Thessaloniki International Fair, the ministry will present all the new functions of Gov.gr Wallet at pavilion 12, where citizens will have the opportunity to learn about them through interactive experiences and presentations.
Regarding P.A. issuance, since its launch in early June until today, over 1.3 million Personal Numbers have been issued, with more than 107,000 issued by KEP centers and 287 by Consular Authorities. Additionally, over 423,000 citizen records with discrepancies have been corrected and more than 318,000 P.A.s have been retrieved by the Greek Police for inclusion in new identity cards. Until November 5, citizens can issue their P.A., with the option to choose the first two digits of their tax number prefix, either through the myInfo application at pa.gov.gr, or through KEP centers and Consular Authorities.
