“What happened in Drama with the incidents at the hospital was unacceptable, I canceled my visit,” stated Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis regarding the event that unfolded at Drama Hospital on Thursday morning, speaking to Parapolitika 90.1 radio and the “Magazine” show with Alexandra Kaimenou. He emphasized that “I went to the health center in Kato Nevrokopi, I go to hospitals to find solutions,” commenting on the complaint he made this morning regarding an attack he received from the president of hospital workers in the city.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis filed a complaint that the president of workers at Drama Hospital, who is affiliated with the Communist Party, organized a public mobilization aimed at having him face disapproval upon his arrival, even allowing comments “up to shooting me” – as he said. As a result, the minister canceled today’s scheduled visit, noting in his post on platform X that he has already satisfied all employee requests and that “no Minister has dealt with this particular Hospital more than me.”

“From the day my visit was announced, the Union President, who a few months ago admitted that I had accepted their demands, affiliated with the Communist Party, began a public campaign to have me insulted there upon my arrival. Under his post he even allowed comments to be published calling for me to be shot. Next to him rallied a reaction from local SYRIZA, Greek Solution, Victory, PASOK etc have already put microphones, cameras there and are preparing an opposition show,” notes Adonis Georgiadis in his post.
At the same time, the health minister lists the entire history of his interventions to cover gaps specifically in internists at Drama Hospital. Finally, publishing video from the situation outside Drama Hospital, the health minister writes that “they even went so far as to tear the shirt of the Police Deputy Director,” announcing that “I naturally cancel my visit there and declare that to go to this Hospital I must not only be officially invited by the Employees’ Union but they must also guarantee my safety.”
“I don’t go to Hospitals to fight, nor to be insulted by my political opponents, nor to be threatened that they will shoot me. They haven’t understood something well. I’m sorry because I believe my visit would have been useful for the people of Drama and maybe from my on-site presence, we could find a solution we haven’t thought of yet. But let those who organized all these scandals take responsibility” concludes Adonis Georgiadis.
