A temporary assignment of the board president’s responsibilities at OPEKEPE to the general director of Financial and Technical Services of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue is provided for in an amendment submitted to Parliament and voted on late Thursday evening (28/8). As a result, Yiannis Kavvadas takes over as interim head of the Organization.

At the same time, the same regulation temporarily prohibits – until 31/12/2025 – the reassignment, secondment and transfer of OPEKEPE employees. The only exception is transfers to the Permanent Greek Representation and European Union bodies.
As the Minister of Agricultural Development explained, the temporary assignment of responsibilities to the AADE general director is provided for to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Organization and the smooth continuation of EU and national aid payments. Regarding the ban on secondments, he emphasized that it was included to prevent weakening of the Organization from potential departures.
