Sadness struck the political world with the sudden death of Apostolos Vesyropoulos, former Deputy Finance Minister and secretary of the New Democracy Parliamentary Group. Apostolos Vesyropoulos passed away at the age of 59 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The New Democracy Parliamentary Group secretary was at a beach bar at Kalogrias Beach in Sithonia, Halkidiki, when he suddenly felt unwell. Minutes later he collapsed, prompting an emergency response. EKAB rescuers immediately rushed to the scene and attempted resuscitation. He was urgently transported to the Saint Nicholas Health Center in Halkidiki, where persistent cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts were made. Unfortunately, despite the immediate response, recovery was not possible.
When and where Apostolos Vesyropoulos’ funeral will take place
The funeral of Apostolos Vesyropoulos will be held on Saturday (23/08) at the Holy Metropolitan Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Alexandria, Imathia, where relatives, friends, colleagues and residents will say their final goodbye to “Psilos” (The Tall One), as he was nicknamed. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to attend. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, while his body will lie in the Holy Church from 10:00 in the morning.
