Apostolos Vesyropoulos, secretary of the New Democracy parliamentary group, has died at the age of 59 following a heart attack he suffered while at a beach bar in Halkidiki.
The New Democracy parliamentary group secretary, Apostolos Vesyropoulos, felt unwell while at a beach bar at Kalogrias Beach in Sithonia, Halkidiki, and collapsed, with emergency services immediately arriving at the scene. Paramedics and doctors attempted to revive him in the ambulance, performing CPR throughout the journey, while he was transported to the Saint Nicholas Health Center in Halkidiki where he passed away.

Apostolos Vesyropoulos: His biography
Apostolos Vesyropoulos (Veria, May 29, 1966) was a Greek politician, Member of Parliament for Imathia representing New Democracy and former Deputy Minister of Finance, responsible for Tax Policy and Public Property.
He was born in 1966 in Veria and originated from Alexandria, Imathia. He studied at the School of Management and Economics of TEI Larissa (Department of Accounting), and completed his master’s degree in the Department of Public Law and Political Science at the Law School of Democritus University of Thrace.
He worked as a tax officer in Veria and from 2004 to 2008 served as a member of the administrative council of DAKE Tax Officers of Imathia – Pella – Pieria. He also served as prefectural councilor and deputy prefect of Imathia, responsible for the directorates of Agricultural Development, Finance, Commerce and Consumer Protection. From 2010 until recently, he was vice-president of the Prefectural Administrative Committee (NODE) of Imathia for New Democracy.
He was elected Member of Parliament for Imathia representing New Democracy in the June 2012 elections and was re-elected in January and September 2015. In 2019, he was re-elected as the top MP for Imathia. In the 2019 Mitsotakis government, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance, Tax Policy and Public Property. In the May 2023 elections, he was elected first, by preference votes, as Member of Parliament for Imathia.
He was married and had two children.
