Kalliopi Semertizidou finds herself at the center of current affairs after resigning from her position as Community Resources coordinator for New Democracy, following reports linking her to the OPEKEPE scandal involving illegal subsidies worth 2.5 million euros alongside her husband. Speaking to ANT1 television, she emphasizes that “until today, no Authority has bothered us, neither us nor our family,” while clarifying that “we are not involved in any of these cases and accusations that have been attributed to us in recent days” and speaks of “completely false information.”
Kalliopi Semertizidou: Her response about the Ferrari
One of the elements that caused particular uproar is the Ferrari allegedly connected to Kalliopi Semertizidou’s partner. The luxury car became a subject of discussion, with many questioning its compatibility with their declared income. She provides her own explanation.
She continued saying: “Christos’s family are third-generation livestock farmers and constitute one of the most productive families in the area, with a large livestock unit. As an agricultural-livestock family, which operates with this specific profession as the main means of livelihood, we have received the legal subsidies from OPEKEPE that are due to us. My partner bought the Ferrari in 2004 and we have not hidden it. Any attempt to defame us is reprehensible and unfair.”
