The parliamentary confrontation that has recently erupted between the leader of Plefsi Eleftherias, Zoi Konstantopoulou and Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis is now in full swing. This time the confrontation did not involve Tempe, but rather the “criminal organization” allegations against the backdrop of the OPEKEPE scandal. Giorgos Floridis responded to the “slanders” of the Plefsi Eleftherias leader who, during today’s interventions, insisted on speaking of a blue “criminal organization,” referencing the dialogues included in the OPEKEPE case file that was forwarded to Parliament.
During his intervention, Mr. Floridis read to the Plenary a letter from the responsible director of the Greek Office of European Chief Prosecutors Lambros Sofoulakis, who expressed gratitude on behalf of his colleagues for meeting the Office’s requests. “You will never be worthy of such a letter… I received an identical letter from the head of the European Prosecutor’s Office on June 30, 2025, even though I was supposedly going to intervene because some fraudsters were saying what they were saying. The greatest commendation a Justice Minister could have is these letters. You can adopt whatever fraudsters and criminals you want. This is my answer to your constant slanders!” Giorgos Floridis characteristically stated, addressing the Plefsi Eleftherias leader.
Subsequently, Ms. Konstantopoulou, taking the floor for her own intervention, emphasized that Mr. Sofoulakis’s letter is “uncharacteristic” and added that through it, it is proven “what the criminal organization is.” “I wonder why you boast, Mr. Minister. The prosecutor sends you flattery, while dialogues had been published to screw over prosecutor Papandreou,” claimed the Plefsi Eleftherias leader, speaking of “disgraced” judicial officials. “You collectively accused the European prosecutors as participants in a criminal organization. Black despair! There is no limit to your incredible downfall,” the Justice Minister replied to her.
