The first spot of SYRIZA-PS‘s new communications campaign has gone live, aiming to launch a political “counteroffensive,” move beyond the party’s turbulent period of departures and internal strife, and return the party to positive headlines — while taking clear, if indirect, jabs at former leader Alexis Tsipras and his successor Socrates Famellos. “Reality itself disproves these scenarios,” the party states, referring to speculation that SYRIZA might skip the next elections or that its historic chapter had come to a close.
“We’re back. SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, for the Left, for Greece,” the spot declares. “SYRIZA-PS leaves behind the staged dissolution of yesterday and enters an era of truth, participation, and its radical program,” it adds, with Rena Dourou, Pavlos Polakis, and Nikos Pappas taking center stage.
The spot was released two days before the Assumption of Mary holiday on August 15th — no coincidence, the party suggests — carrying the message that visitors to SYRIZA’s Koumoundourou headquarters won’t find empty offices, and noting that the ad was produced entirely by party members.
SYRIZA’s official announcement
“The first spot of SYRIZA-PS’s new communications campaign is already live. A 47-second video created with the participation of party members, it delivers clear answers to the scheming, negative narratives, and myths that have been deliberately spread and recycled for months.
Because a lot has been said.
Missteps by the previous leadership, ill-judged messaging from MPs and officials who subsequently resigned or went independent — all of this fed speculation that the left-wing party that once governed Greece would not contest the next elections, or that it had run its historic course.
And yet, reality tells a different story. The SYRIZA-PS base is here. More than 70,000 members have been demanding — and continue to demand — answers. Members and voters who were disappointed, withdrew, or temporarily turned to other parties are coming back. To their party.
And so begins the great return to positive news, to action, and to political counteroffensive. In the first spot, Rena Dourou, Pavlos Polakis, and Nikos Pappas arrive at SYRIZA-PS’s central headquarters, ‘Mimis Dareiotis,’ on Koumoundourou Square.
“We are here, for the Left and for the people.” “For the rights of the many, not the oligarchs.” “We’re back. SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, for the Left, for Greece.”
At Koumoundourou, they find no empty offices. Even in the heart of August, they are greeted by members pushing back against the dissolution narrative, members of the Political Secretariat and Central Committee coming down from their offices to welcome them, and people volunteering for the party’s organizational and communications rebuild — just as hundreds of cadres across the country are already doing.
This is precisely the image that never fit the dissolution narrative. And this is the image of a modern, active, living party with which the new campaign begins.
Members of SYRIZA-PS’s collective leadership are leading the way. Party members from across Greece and abroad will follow. Dozens of spots will unfold the truth about the left-wing party, present proposals and a program, counter the myths, mount a tough opposition to the New Democracy government, and respond to all those who question the SYRIZA-PS of its members, principles, and left-wing values.
The first spot is, above all, a call to action and electoral mobilization for all those who believe in the modern Left.
With its sights set on the historically necessary rallying of the Left and the prospect of a progressive government after the next elections, SYRIZA-PS leaves behind the staged dissolution of yesterday and steps into an era of truth, participation, and its radical program.
Left-wing and progressive citizens are returning to action with SYRIZA-PS.
47 seconds is just the beginning.
Hit play!”
