Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed the devastating wildfires currently ravaging the country, which have already claimed the lives of three firefighters and scorched thousands of acres of land. In his Sunday post, the Prime Minister reflected on the impact of the climate crisis, stressed the critical importance of prevention in fighting wildfires, and paid tribute to the superhuman efforts being made by firefighters in recent days as they battle under extraordinarily difficult conditions.
“And let us remember that when it comes to wildfires, prevention saves lives. And that remains our absolute priority: to protect human life first, then the property of citizens, and our precious forest ecosystems. This is the goal we will continue to serve with everything we have,” he stated.
He also made specific reference to the ongoing migration crisis in Ceuta, Spain, emphasizing the need for more effective protection of both land and sea borders.
