“I encourage him to run. I believe it’s healthy to be judged rather than to hide. He must explain his stance. I am completely indifferent whether Alexis Tsipras creates a new party,” stated the president of the Democracy Movement Stefanos Kasselakis, speaking on the MEGA TV show “Society Hour.”
Initially, Stefanos Kasselakis referred to the dark anniversary of the Mati tragedy, as today marks 7 years since the wildfire that left hundreds dead. The Democracy Movement president mentioned that his thoughts are with the victims’ relatives and the burn survivors of the deadly fire. “There will always be accidents and tragedies, the issue is to prevent as many as possible. The Tempe case was not a natural disaster. Obviously, I believe there are administrative responsibilities in Mati, but Tempe is a completely different matter. It involves political and criminal responsibility that led to this outcome.”
Stefanos Kasselakis: Parliament has become a whitewashing of responsibilities
Among other things, he emphasized that Parliament has become a whitewashing of responsibilities, while expressing distrust towards the Greek justice system. “Trust in Greek justice is for those who haven’t faced it. What trust? In the country of Predator, of the Tempe whitewashing? In the country of Blue Skies and V+O? Of black political money?”
“It’s patriotic to say I want to improve my country. Justice must be 100% reliable at all points. We’re talking about a pillar of Democracy. Justice needs massive reforms.”
About Alexis Tsipras
He also referred to his tenure as SYRIZA president, while regarding the possibility of Alexis Tsipras creating a new party, he said: “I encourage him to run. I believe it’s healthy to be judged rather than to hide. He must explain his stance. I am completely indifferent whether Alexis Tsipras creates a new party.” Regarding the Democracy Movement, he said that in just 7 months the party has presence throughout the country and clear presence in the European Parliament, while emphasizing that there is no party in Parliament they would collaborate with.
About OPEKEPE
Referring to the OPEKEPE scandal, Stefanos Kasselakis accused the opposition that while it speaks of criminal organization, it doesn’t proceed to actions and doesn’t frame Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“They’re afraid to do the obvious. Have we understood that the country’s prime minister obstructs justice? It’s usurpation of power. A prime minister who usurps power over Tempe and obstructs justice stops at nothing. Do you believe he would hesitate?”
“They say chronic pathologies. Who is the state? What are the pathologies? Where does this deep state stop?” he added.
