What government sources say about the Thanos Dokos conversation
Government circles describe the incident as a hybrid-type attack involving a breach of security protocols through the use of highly advanced artificial intelligence technology. A program to upgrade communications security is already underway, officials noted, in response to an increasingly evolving landscape of hybrid threats.
Authorities stress that no confidential or classified information was disclosed during the conversation. They also point out that similar attacks have been carried out against high-ranking European officials in the past.
Victim of Russian pranksters
It is worth recalling that the prankster duo Vovan & Lexus posed as Ukrainian officials and published a video recording of their video call with Thanos Dokos. During the conversation, the two pranksters appear to warn about the possibility of a repeat drone incident. Dokos responded by noting that keeping communication channels open is essential.
He is also seen expressing concern over the potential consequences of a new such incident. “It is tourist season, there is increased maritime traffic. We understand the needs of the war, but we do not want the war to be brought into our territory or our territorial waters,” he stated characteristically.
