Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis commented on developments in the political landscape on Parapolitika 90.1 during the show “She and I” with journalists Stella Gantona and Thanasis Fouskidis. Specifically, following statements by Deputy Foreign Minister Charis Theocharis, who labeled Antonis Samaras as “far-right,” Mr. Georgiadis distanced himself from these characterizations, saying “I want to believe he said it inadvertently about Samaras.” Mr. Georgiadis also sent this message: “Above all, the political alignment.”
“Mr. Samaras is not far-right, he was president of New Democracy,” the minister emphasized at another point, while regarding the possibility of Samaras creating a new party, he noted that he cannot know for certain and that if “he forms a party, I consider it a major mistake for one basic reason: above individuals is the political alignment. New Democracy is above individuals. New Democracy is the alignment of Constantine Karamanlis.”
Adonis Georgiadis on Tsipras and rebranding
“Former presidents of New Democracy deserve respect,” Mr. Georgiadis noted.
Regarding Alexis Tsipras and the rebranding with the new ELAS party, he said: “I acknowledge Tsipras. He had pre-planned it, he peeled them all like eggs, we’ll see which MPs he takes with him.”
