“Parliament is not a traffic cop, it has criminal jurisdiction and must exercise it,” stated among other things Makis Voridis speaking about the OPEKEPE case.
Voridis on OPEKEPE: I had no information about violations
The New Democracy MP and former minister, Makis Voridis, speaking on Thursday (17/7) on SKAI television added that: “I continued the legal practice of my predecessors,” regarding the “technical solution” of OPEKEPE. He further added that: “Everyone talks to everyone, there is no conversation of mine”,
Makis Voridis did not fail to mention that: “Mr. Varras stated in an interview ‘no, why would I inform the minister about something that concerns the internal affairs of the Organization?’. Mr. Varras conducted cross-checks. For these specific checks, I had no information about violations. The Minister of Agricultural Development neither knows, nor –in a sense– has the right to know. Supervision should be exercised as follows: ‘Did we conduct checks? Did we find illegalities? Did we report them to the prosecutor?’. Mr. Varras went to the prosecutor. I never heard threats about the European prosecutor. Where is my own conversation with those who supposedly would visit me? It doesn’t exist”.
