In a video posted on X platform, Kimberly Guilfoyle presented the agreement as a step toward upgrading bilateral relations, emphasizing that “when President Donald Trump asked me to serve as US Ambassador to Greece, it was a great honor for me.” She also characterized Greece as a “valuable partner” that “shares our determination to defend to the fullest a bold vision for the future and to project peace through strength.”
In the same message, the American ambassador emphasized that “today, we are elevating our cooperation to a historic new level,” adding that she has the honor, together with Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, to officially announce that Greece will partner with Florida under the US National Guard program.
Subsequently, Jimmy Patronis, sharing Kimberly Guilfoyle’s statement, welcomed the agreement, noting that “US-Greece cooperation is entering a new chapter.” As he mentioned, connecting Greece with Florida through the National Guard State Partnership Program strengthens operational readiness and deepens both sides’ shared commitment to freedom and democracy.

Greece’s partnership with the Florida State National Guard was also at the center of the meeting held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Ministry of Defense between Nikos Dendias and Kimberly Guilfoyle. The discussion was part of the broader framework of strengthening the Athens-Washington strategic relationship, with emphasis on defense cooperation.
