Outgoing United States Ambassador George Tsunis bid farewell to Greece with warm words, expressing his optimism for the future of Greek-American relations under the upcoming tenure of Kimberly Guilfoyle.
According to Tsunis, her arrival in the country is expected in early fall, and he estimated that the next 3.5 years will be among the best periods in US-Greece relations. He noted that Guilfoyle possesses many talents, courage, and deep faith in the rule of law, while appearing convinced that her presence will further strengthen the already good relations between the two countries.
In statements to Mega, Tsunis emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the stable and reliable strategic alliance with Greece, noting that our country has always responded with consistency and exceeded Washington’s expectations.
The future US ambassador to Greece has already sent a clear message to Congress in favor of strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Greece, while simultaneously provoking an indirect reaction in Ankara.
Tsunis on Guilfoyle: “She understands the rule of law and is a tremendous personality”
Former US Ambassador to Greece George Tsunis, speaking exclusively to MEGA, praised Guilfoyle’s character, not hesitating to say she will be the best US ambassador ever sent to Greece.
Describing Guilfoyle’s character, Tsunis compared her dynamism to Bouboulina, saying she will stand by Athens’ side, as her thinking is centered on International Law and consistency, something he greatly appreciates.
“She understands the rule of law and is a tremendous personality. I think she will be one of the best ambassadors America has sent to Greece. Greece is a consistent ally. What Ms. Guilfoyle and Congressman Rich said in Congress on Wednesday is that Turkey is not consistent all the time.”
Kimberly Guilfoyle: Her energy statements cause stir in Ankara
It should be noted that Kimberly Guilfoyle emphasized she would support the laying of the electrical interconnection cable with Cyprus and Israel, causing a stir in Ankara.
“I will also encourage Greece’s progress in building electrical interconnections with its neighbors, including Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt, which contribute to regional energy diversification and security.”
From Kimberly Guilfoyle’s hearing before the relevant congressional committee, the statement by Congressman James Rich regarding the F-35s that Turkey wants made an impression.
“I was the one who put the F-35s on ice (for Turkey). The F-35s they paid for and bought are still in the US because I stopped them and I will continue to maintain this for many and various reasons.”
