The Parliament’s Ethics Committee is scheduled to convene again on April 20, following the case file formed by the European prosecutor’s office concerning New Democracy MPs Charalambos Athanassiou and Tasos Chatzivassiliou. The case file, related to OPEKEPE, which is expected to be forwarded to Parliament in the coming hours – it has been at the Ministry of Justice since Monday afternoon – reportedly indicates evidence of moral complicity in breach of duty for the two MPs.
Should the case be forwarded to Parliament, the two implicated MPs will immediately receive knowledge of the case file’s contents. However, the decision for the Ethics Committee to convene on April 20 was made as there is no risk of statute of limitations expiring.
Furthermore, the same sources report that this particular case file will likely be added to the existing case involving the “11,” in order to hold a single session where all immunity waiver requests will be discussed.
