Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis addressed the process by which the European Public Prosecutor’s Office notifies Greece of case files regarding the OPEKEPE case in a post on “X”, noting among other things that “the European Public Prosecutor’s Office institution is new and perhaps hasn’t found its footing yet, but as a practice it is both strange and unacceptable and you cannot fail to see it”.
Georgiadis on OPEKEPE files: “Direct political intervention in the country”
Specifically, the Health Minister did not refer to the content of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation, but to the fact that the folders with the case files came with delay after leaks, while according to newer leaks, more are to follow.
In his post he characteristically states: “Direct political intervention in the Country. Leaks from September for something that finally came in April. Now new leaks for one, two, three etc. folders being prepared etc. inconceivable things from a judicial perspective as well. And of course a Parliament that thus remains constantly captive. If it has something so serious it had all year to send them all together. The European Public Prosecutor’s Office institution is new and perhaps hasn’t found its footing yet, but as a practice it is both strange and unacceptable and you cannot fail to see it”.

Georgiadis on European Public Prosecutor’s Office: “Like holding the country, the political system hostage.“
It should be recalled that a few days ago Adonis Georgiadis speaking on Action24 spoke of a “major problem” expressing his opposition to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office practice. As he had said: “It bothers me a lot. It sends the first case file, the second, the third, the fifth. It’s like holding the country, the political system hostage. Do you have something Mrs. Papandreou about MPs? Send them, make them one package and send them all together. If they send them one per month isn’t that political intervention? Doesn’t this cumulatively create political turmoil?”
The Health Minister characterized as brave the Prime Minister’s decision to draw a “red line” so that Parliament and Justice can decide, however he rejected the “hypocrisy” as he said that clientelism started under ND governance. As he had emphasized: “I can tell you about clientelism from the 5th century BC. Our government has fought clientelism very much, at OPEKEPE we didn’t have time to do it, we’re doing it now”.
