The courtroom battle between Adonis Georgiadis and Lakis Lazopoulos is set to escalate, as Greece’s Health Minister announced he will file a lawsuit and civil suit against the popular TV satirist. Georgiadis responded to comments made by Lazopoulos on his show yesterday (01/04), revealing that he will file the legal action tomorrow, seeking a symbolic amount in damages. Speaking to ANT1, Georgiadis was asked about “Al Tsantiri News,” responding that “I don’t watch Lakis Lazopoulos, I avoid him for my peace of mind.”
Georgiadis on Lazopoulos: “What he does against me or others, Greek society knows”
The Health Minister then revealed his next moves: “Well, what Mr. Lazopoulos does against me or against others, Greek society knows. I remind you that for a long period, he had gone to the political and social margins, until what he did last time was forgotten. Now, regarding my lawsuit and civil suit, it will be filed tomorrow. What he said, that he will bring Mitsotakis as a witness, he can bring him to court if he wants… Whoever he wants to bring as a witness, I won’t tell him… It will be judged by a courtroom, whether I am right or he is right. I won’t say anything else. The amount I will seek won’t be excessively large. It’s more symbolic. I don’t intend to get rich from Mr. Lazopoulos.”
What Lakis Lazopoulos mentioned on his show
It should be noted that on yesterday’s show, Lakis Lazopoulos stated the following: “I have done six shows so far. This is the seventh. I have three extrajudicial notices so far. Liagkas first, Kapernaros second, Adonis third,” he said initially. “But if we go to trial, Mr. Adonis, I will call Mitsotakis as a witness. Because you don’t listen to what your leader says,” he added. The case concerns comments from ordinary people featured on Lakis Lazopoulos’s show, people given the microphone by his program, and almost all were insulting toward Mr. Georgiadis.
Indeed, through a lengthy post on the X platform, Adonis Georgiadis had announced he was immediately pursuing strict legal action. As he denounced in his post at the time, during the satirical show, he suffered yet another fierce and vulgar attack that far exceeded the limits of well-intentioned political criticism. Adonis Georgiadis spoke of serious insults, baseless slander, innuendos, and direct incitement to violence against him and his family.
