From this Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29, all eyes will be on Tae Kwon Do where the fourth congress of PASOK – KINAL will take place, with proceedings opening at 6:00 PM with the speech of the main opposition leader, who will set the political tone, while expected to make it clear in all tones that after the next elections he will not cooperate with New Democracy. The congress proceedings will conclude on Sunday with voting for the election of a new Central Committee and the speech of Nikos Androulakis.

More than 4,000 delegates will participate in the congress while even now Harris Doukas continues to insist and demand that a resolution against cooperation with New Democracy be put up for discussion. It is characteristic that yesterday there was contact between the historic Movement figure Kostas Skandalidis and the mayor of Athens regarding article 13 of the declaration related to the political decision that delegates will be called to vote on. Mr. Skandalidis told Mr. Doukas that there could be a commitment in the congress’s political proposal that if PASOK is the first party, it will not govern with ND. However, this did not find agreement with the Athens mayor, who continues to insist that to cover his proposal, this commitment should describe that PASOK will not cooperate with ND under any circumstances and after any election result.
Nevertheless, from both sides the impression is that there will eventually be a common line. However, if no white smoke emerges, Mr. Doukas will insist on his proposal and it is considered certain that he will leave barbs against the presidential block. Also yesterday the constitutional committee convened, whose proposals met with reactions from top party figures who declared themselves surprised. Specifically, Harris Doukas, Pavlos Geroulanos, Anna Diamantopoulou and Michalis Katrinis, beyond their disagreements, also spoke about lack of information regarding Nikos Androulakis’s intentions to proceed with significant changes to the party’s constitution. Nevertheless, despite the reactions during yesterday’s session, the decision was made to have a proposal for holding a regular congress before PASOK’s leadership elections, when these take place again. Indeed, there was no unanimous decision as the Christodoulakis side expressed disagreement. Furthermore, the presidential side retreated regarding securing 15% of delegates for anyone who wishes to contest the party leadership in the future.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s mistake by the President of Parliament with the “revolution of 1981” very quickly went viral, resulting in PASOK, which from tomorrow until Sunday will hold its fourth congress, taking the pass and creating a humorous video. In the new video posted on the main opposition party’s social media, we see Parliament President Konstantinos Tasoulas referring to the struggle of our ancestors and instead of the historic 1821, talking about 1981, also a historic year for Greece, as it brought PASOK with Andreas Papandreou to power for the first time with 48.07%.

“In 1981 our ancestors undertook and fulfilled for us the responsibility of our freedom…” says Tasoulas, prompting comments on social media that freedom came with Andreas Papandreou’s change. In the humorous video, Andreas Papandreou appears to the sounds of songs of the era, people in the streets of Athens celebrating PASOK’s 1981 election, and Georgios Karaiskakis, a leading figure of the 1821 revolution, holding the… PASOK flag. Meanwhile, three young people appear at the end of the video calling on PASOK supporters to participate in the party’s 4th Regular Congress to be held March 27-29 in Athens.
