Following developments in the wiretapping case after the finalization of the relevant decision, and the statement by Intellexa head Tal Dilian that he will not become a scapegoat as he intends to present all the evidence he has, Socrates Famellos said in an interview that he asks Justice to do its work in revealing the truth, despite the interventions it receives from the government.
Famellos: Why haven’t the political figures involved in the wiretapping case reacted legally?
The SYRIZA president blamed Kyriakos Mitsotakis, emphasizing that “there was central planning in the wiretapping issue” and this, as he said, has been proven. In his interview, Socrates Famellos wondered why the political figures involved in the case have not reacted legally. “It is a very big question why political figures who come with great arrogance, but also with specific political reference in Parliament and speak and address Greek citizens, such as Mr. Dendias, such as Mr. Gerapetritis, such as Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, Mr. Kikilias, Ms. Kefalogiannis, were on Mr. Menoudakos’ list, that is, it has been revealed by an independent authority that they were involved…”. And he added: “Against whom should they have filed appeals? Against what system? The Maximos system? Because what is being revealed is that EYP and Predator had common targets, allow me to use this term, and there was a unified center, since there was now a statement from Mr. Dilian that ‘we only cooperate with national authorities and official services'”.
And the fact that they do not resort to Justice is “a retreat from their obligations and responsibilities as citizens and as political figures and therefore incompetence for the position they serve. In any case, they do not resort to Justice for something they were informed about by an independent authority. Neither as witnesses, nor to discover their rights and the violation that has been made against them. This creates many questions and the basic question is ‘why?’. Why do they retreat from a right and an obligation? What problem do they have? What are they afraid of?”.
Referring to the Prime Minister he pointed out: “Didn’t Mr. Mitsotakis take over EYP on the first day of assuming his responsibilities as Prime Minister? Which is also politically wrong, but he hasn’t explained to us why yet. Didn’t he himself appoint the EYP director, also changing the institutional framework, so that he wouldn’t have the necessary qualifications? He made a law change precisely so that his own man would be in EYP. Doesn’t everyone now come and prove that there was a common, connected system between EYP and Predator? Isn’t it now publicly revealed that this malicious software is only addressed to national authorities?”.
