“Investment in national defense is not a luxury, but a necessity,” emphasized Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his statements from Syntagma Square after the conclusion of Athens’ magnificent military parade.
At the same time, he sent a message for national unity in facing major challenges, stressing that “despite the difficulties we face in these turbulent times, Greece is a country that moves forward”.
Initially, the Prime Minister commented that “the north wind that blew strong today was a wind of hope, optimism and confidence. All Greek men and women who watched the parade could only feel pride for the Armed Forces and the invisible thread connecting the Evzones with the ultra-modern drones”.
Noting that “we live in extremely turbulent times,” he emphasized that “investment in national defense is not a luxury but a necessity so that the country can be secure and constitute a beacon of stability in a turbulent era. A country that protects the Hellenism of Cyprus”.
“In these difficult times, the deterrent power of the Armed Forces alone is not enough – national unity is required and the ability to separate the big issues from the small ones that are the field of political confrontation,” the Prime Minister added.
Concluding, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said “I want to take this opportunity to wish all Greek men and women many happy returns. Our thoughts are primarily with the Greeks of the diaspora, knowing that despite the difficulties we face, Greece is a country that moves forward”.
