Excerpts from Giorgos Kotsiras’ interview on Parapolitika 90.1
Regarding the impact of the Middle East war:
G.KOTSIRAS: We are talking about a crisis stemming from warfare of very large scale and very high intensity. It is given that this type of crisis has unpredictable economic consequences and entails significant changes related to the map of geopolitical correlations, so we are talking about a crisis that does not have usual parameters for evaluation. It is an extreme crisis that affects many levels.
When asked what would be the red line for the government to start helping consumers:
G.KOTSIRAS: The Greek government is ready, has a plan and strategy, and has both fiscal and institutional tools to intervene. Obviously these days we see different price fluctuations, we are here to support Greek society when it is deemed necessary. (…) We are ready to support Greek society, judging based on needs and duration.
On the Easter allowance:
G.KOTSIRAS: No allowance or support of this kind for Easter has been provided for 2026 in the budget. Nothing has been planned at this moment, we stick to what we have budgeted so far.
