Three years have passed today (28/02) since the Tempi train crash, in which 57 people tragically lost their lives. On today’s anniversary, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis posted on social media, emphasizing among other things that “the State must quickly correct gaps and mistakes in its operation, so that our country never experiences such a tragedy again.” The Prime Minister also stressed that “at this time we unite, remember, learn, honor and act.”
Here is the full text of the Prime Minister’s post:
“Three years since the tragedy at Tempi that wounded all Greeks, the memory of the victims and the pain of their relatives converge on a common demand: that responsibilities for the tragedy be attributed in a strict but also impartial manner in the trial that is beginning. While the State must quickly correct gaps and mistakes in its operation, so that our country never experiences such a tragedy again. We approach this sad anniversary showing the respect it deserves. Far from extreme views or behaviors that reduce it to a partisan slogan. And turning our backs on those who tried with lies, rumors and scenarios to exploit a national mourning for their own purposes. At this time, we unite. We remember and learn. We honor and act.”
