Pavlos Marinakis addressed wiretapping issues and criticism on national matters during the ERTnews bulletin. Referring to the Athens Single-Member Misdemeanor Court’s decision on wiretapping and commenting on statements by Nikos Androulakis, he raised the question of whether the opposition trusts the justice system, emphasizing that the government has full confidence in it. “The government is taking all necessary institutional measures regarding surveillance,” Mr. Marinakis stressed, adding that the judicial decision concerns two private individuals. “The opposition is trying to turn political life into a vast courtroom because it lacks substantiated and costed proposals.”
Pavlos Marinakis: “There is no consideration for Greek participation in potential military operations in Iraq”
Regarding national issues and statements by Antonis Samaras, he enumerated the government’s interventions in energy agreements, defense programs, EEZ agreements with Italy and Egypt, and reminded that Turkey reacted to these agreements. He recalled that Europe has also condemned the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum. He confirmed that a visit by Emmanuel Macron to Athens is imminent. Additionally, he categorically denied that there is any consideration for Greek participation in potential military operations in Iraq. Greece is a strategic ally of the US, and the meeting between Giorgos Gerapetritis and the US Secretary of State for the second time within a year speaks volumes.
Regarding Tempi, he said that justice is delivered by the justice system and not by self-appointed judges and television courts.
