Armed with data and without any intention to engage in personal confrontation with Course of Freedom leader Zoe Konstantopoulou, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis appeared before Parliament’s plenary session. Hours after the incident at Nikaia General State Hospital, Mr. Georgiadis responded to the accusations leveled against him by Ms. Konstantopoulou, using specific data. He notably stated that he “has no intention to fight” with Zoe Konstantopoulou, as it would be “boring.”
“Whether I was rightly or wrongly prevented from entering the public hospital, I leave that to the people’s judgment. However, Ms. Konstantopoulou claimed that I don’t care about Nikaia General State Hospital,” the Health Minister initially emphasized, presenting concrete figures showing that the hospital’s budget has increased by 76% compared to 2019, while staff has grown by 30%, with an additional 65 doctors, 36 residents, 155 nurses, and 155 other personnel now serving.
Konstantopoulou’s attack on Georgiadis: “The only thing he doesn’t deal with is health”
Earlier, intervening in the plenary session, Zoe Konstantopoulou attacked him fiercely, saying that “the only thing he doesn’t deal with is health, he only does public relations with wealthy patients.”
The Course of Freedom leader also denounced that “accompanied by armed, hooded, and helmeted police officers, he attempted to impose his own terms at Nikaia hospital” and accused Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis, arguing that the police “went there as his security and protection unit,” while adding that violence was exercised against healthcare workers.
