Greece doesn’t expect much from the meeting with Erdogan
From the Greek side, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ visit to Ankara is being approached with sobriety and without excessive expectations. As the government has communicated, the goal remains maintaining open channels of communication and establishing a functional relationship with Turkey, even amid conditions of uncertainty and instability.
It is clear, as shown by the statements of government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, that there is currently no convergence for starting discussions on resolving our single difference that can be brought before international jurisdiction, namely the delimitation of the continental shelf and EEZ in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean. Nevertheless, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan will sit at the same table, looking forward to a constructive discussion and maintaining a climate of calm in bilateral relations.
