New Democracy MEP Eleonora Meleti addressed the European Parliament plenary, bringing to the forefront the issue of digital sexual abuse through deep fakes, which she described as a form of sexual exploitation and digital violence against women.

Specifically, Eleonora Meleti emphasized that the responsibility does not lie with artificial intelligence, but with digital platforms and the inadequate implementation of European regulations.
At the same time, she demanded immediate removal of illegal content and sanctions, stressing that “an algorithm cannot have more rights than the human body.” Finally, the MEP called on Europe to take clear responsibility for a digital future without objectification of women, declaring: “I cannot accept this.”
