The court in the Novartis case imposed a total prison sentence of 25 months on Filistor Destambasidis and 28 months on Maria Marangeli, with three-year suspension for both. The two former protected witnesses were found guilty at second instance for the misdemeanor charges of false testimony in serial form and false accusation.

Additionally, the court rejected the defendants’ request for recognition of the mitigating factor of good conduct after the act, which had been submitted earlier through their attorneys.
Furthermore, as announced by the court president, for reasons of protecting the prestige of Justice and the legal profession, copies of the trial proceedings are being forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the possible commission of criminal offenses by Maria Marangeli’s defense attorney, specifically for attempted undue influence due to expressions allegedly directed toward judicial officials.
