Regarding tomorrow’s meeting of farmers with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion, Kostis Hatzidakis called on farmers to participate in the dialogue, stating that he considers their non-participation incomprehensible at a time when the blockades in Nikaia Larissa, Malgara and Kastro Boeotia are suggesting not to attend the appointment with the Prime Minister.
Kostis Hatzidakis: incomprehensible for farmers not to come to dialogue
“Thorn“ for the implementation of the two meetings of farmers with Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains the composition of the farmers’ delegation, with the Deputy Prime Minister explaining speaking to OPEN, that this happened because the agricultural union representatives did not want to all meet together at the Maximos Mansion and the request for two separate meetings was accepted. One with representatives of the Pan-Hellenic Committee of blockades and one with representatives of other blockades.
For their part, the agricultural union representatives insist that the government should accept their demand for the participation of 25 farmers and 10 livestock farmers and beekeepers in the meeting, accuse it of trying to divide them and threaten not to attend the meeting. In fact, as they announced, there will be a relevant proposal in the afternoon assemblies.
Hatzidakis: “incomprehensible for farmers not to come to dialogue“
Kostis Hatzidakis emphasized: “It would be completely incomprehensible to all Greek citizens for farmers not to come to the dialogue. They have the opportunity to come and present their demands (…) Everyone must come to the dialogue (…) For the Prime Minister to call you and you refuse not to go, is unprecedented even in Greece“. Commenting on the agricultural union representatives’ argument, he said that “if we wanted to divide them we would not have agreed to have two different meetings, we would have told them one, they would have rejected it and we would have accused them of bad faith“.
In conclusion, he did not fail to mention that: “The government has had a moderate stance from the beginning. With good faith and common logic the dialogue will take place. Let’s not all have an attitude that exceeds the limits (…) The government with its stance wants to facilitate the dialogue, the agricultural union representatives should reconsider“.
