Shock prevails in the government after the decision of the farmers from the Nikaia blockade, the “headquarters” of the mobilizations, not to attend tomorrow’s meeting with the prime minister, with Pavlos Marinakis asking, following a question from parapolitika.gr, for prudence to prevail. “Our goal is for tomorrow’s meeting to take place with the most representative participation of farmers,” Mr. Marinakis emphasized. He did not directly answer the question of whether Kyriakos Mitsotakis will wait for the farmers because the meeting may be canceled from Maximos Mansion if they see that not everyone is attending.
Government spokesman informed about the two meetings between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the farmers on Tuesday, during the established briefing of political editors earlier. “The desire is for it to happen tomorrow as we have pre-announced” he emphasized regarding the meetings. He noted that tomorrow at noon, at 13:00, the first meeting will take place. He also noted that there are no other measures for farmers, “many demands are fair,” he added. “The primary sector must be supported” he emphasized.
“The increased money from subsidies is not mockery” the government spokesman added. “The government has given what all previous governments combined have not given” he emphasized.
Pavlos Marinakis on Mitsotakis meetings with farmers
“There will be two meetings because they didn’t want to be in the same meeting with some others. However, the government and much more the prime minister cannot operate under ultimatum terms. The goal is to meet with all representatives of the mobilizations so there are two meetings in which we are willing to have the prime minister present: the first with the first group of mobilization representatives as requested and the second with the rest that the first group doesn’t want to participate in the meeting with” Pavlos Marinakis answered when asked about who the prime minister will ultimately receive at the Maximos Mansion.
“So there are two meetings. The desire is for it to happen tomorrow as we have pre-announced. We are waiting for the names of participants because for obvious security reasons they must be given in advance by them” he added.
