“A good, happy, fighting year with new strength, endurance, health for everyone,” wished the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Greek Communist Party Dimitris Koutsoumpas in a statement he made after listening to New Year carols from various regions of Greece, as well as “militant carols” from the Communist Youth of Greece, performed by the organization’s choir under the guidance of maestro Christos Kolovos, at the Central Committee headquarters in Perissos. “Our optimism for the new year and for the coming years stems from the fact that in a world that is burning, the people have the power to become the protagonists of developments, to turn things upside down for the benefit of their own lives, their needs and social progress itself. Only here lies the hope for a happier tomorrow for us and our children,” emphasized Mr. Koutsoumpas.
Koutsoumpas presented gifts to the maestro and choir members
“Happy New Year, good strength to everyone,” he continued, especially thanking “the wonderful Communist Youth of Greece choir, which today sang many carols from our homeland, of course also the militant carols, under the guidance and teaching of the esteemed comrade, friend, fighter, maestro, Dr. Christos Kolovos.” Mr. Koutsoumpas presented gifts to the maestro and members of the Communist Youth choir. New Year carols were also sung to Mr. Koutsoumpas by members of the “Pontian Union of Aigaleo,” who also performed traditional dances. The General Secretary of the Greek Communist Party’s Central Committee, after exchanging gifts with the Union members, said: “Happy New Year to everyone. Let us have a happy year, with strength, with health, with endurance. Everything will go well. Let us have optimism, militant optimism. On behalf of the Central Committee of the Greek Communist Party, we thank the Pontian Union of Aigaleo very much for this beautiful day, New Year’s Eve. Happy New Year!”
