Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Votanikos today (30/12) to inspect the construction work at Panathinaikos stadium. Accompanied by Athens Mayor Haris Doukas and Panathinaikos FC president Giannis Alafouzos, Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his hope that the construction timeline would be adhered to and the project would be delivered on schedule.
Athens Mayor Haris Doukas also expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the works, while Leonidas Boutsikaras and Giannis Panagiwtidis represented Panathinaikos FC at the site.
Finally, Giannis Alafouzos stated that the works are progressing at the pace announced by the consortium and the stadium is expected to be ready in May 2027: “The stadium is progressing at the pace the consortium had announced. The concrete work will be completed by May 2026 and the stadium will be delivered in May 2027. I want to thank the government, local authorities, and everyone involved in this tremendous effort that realizes a dream of Panathinaikos fans. The project was originally designed in 2008.
“It would be wonderful to create an ‘Apostolos Nikolaidis’ stand as a museum piece, we’ve discussed this with the mayor, and a small pitch where children can play, so Athens can have a center where kids can play football,” said Mr. Alafouzos, wishing everyone a “happy new year.”
