Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis posted a year-end review video on TikTok, highlighting the government’s key achievements for 2025. “We make mistakes too, but we speak with measurable work in all sectors,” he states at the beginning of his video. As Hatzidakis notes: “Just before the year ends, we all usually make a review. So let’s go and see the highlights of the government’s work for 2025”.
Kostis Hatzidakis: We said it, we did it!
The deputy prime minister begins his year-end review with the economic sector, stating:
- “Unemployment fell to its lowest level in 15 years, from 18% to 8%.
- The minimum wage increased to 880 euros. We inherited it at 650 euros.
- A major tax reduction package was voted for the middle class, families and young people, thanks to economic growth and significant reduction in tax evasion.
- Basic banking fees were reduced or abolished – you remember that, I imagine.
- Meanwhile, mandatory out-of-court settlement was extended to cover the middle class, thus reducing non-performing loans even further”.
He continues with reforms that “ran” across all sectors such as:
- “We signed landmark energy agreements with the American side, with significant geostrategic and economic benefits.
- The first 4 non-state universities began operations.
- We expanded the Digital Work Card application and thus overtime declarations increased by 74% within one year. Social policy in practice!
- Service in the National Health System changed radically with the new free telephone line ‘1566’, which is added to ‘1555’ of the Ministry of Labor and EFKA.
- New major projects were completed, such as the underwater electrical connection between Attica and Crete and the Patras-Pyrgos highway.
- The law for OPEKEPE’s absorption into AADE was passed and the foundations were laid for a new, fairer system of European subsidies for real producers”.
Hatzidakis’ video concludes by saying: “We certainly make mistakes, but we speak with concrete and measurable work. At the end of our four-year term, we want to say again: ‘We said it, we did it!'”.
