Maria Karistianou categorically denies reports about a “founding manifesto” for a new political party as completely false. In a social media post today (17/12), she clarifies that the related reports do not reflect reality and, as she emphasizes, directly target her for persecution.
“This founding manifesto is fake, it does not come from me and proves once again the shameful targeting against me,” she characteristically states in the caption of her post. At the same time, she calls on those behind the leak to immediately withdraw the specific text, stating that she reserves all her legal rights.
Maria Karistianou clearly reiterates that she has no connection to the content of the disputed “manifesto,” emphasizing that it is a fabricated text arbitrarily attributed to her.
Maria Karistianou: The announcement for creating a political entity
It should be noted that a few days ago she had announced her intention to create a political entity, which under specific conditions could participate in electoral processes. However, she had made it clear that any possibility of cooperation with Alexis Tsipras was out of the question, a position that had sparked wide public debate.
“I am on the front line together with other people trying to organize this movement. It could possibly take the form of a party, if it’s ready, if it’s completed properly, if the right people are found, if all these conditions are created, of course it will emerge and it will do well to emerge because we need to have something to vote for, an alternative,” she had said speaking on Kontra Channel.
This statement provoked a reaction from members of the Association of Relatives of Tempi Victims, with Nikos Plakias commenting that from now on Maria Karistianou will be judged as a politician and not as a relative.
