Theodorikakos: Greece becomes an energy security hub for the entire broader region
In his statements after the meeting to ERT correspondent Lena Argyri, Mr. Theodorikakos noted: “In an era characterized by major global upheavals and changes, the continuous strengthening of Greece’s strategic relationship with the United States of America contributes to steadily establishing our homeland as a strong pillar of stability and development in the broader region of the Eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans, and all of Europe.
With recent energy agreements, Greece is also becoming an energy security center for the entire broader region. Through the important meetings I was given the opportunity to have with ministers of the Trump administration and with US government officials, we agreed on even greater strengthening of strategic-economic relations between the two countries, as well as the framework for enhancing our cooperation in the sectors of supply chain and transit trade, the shipbuilding industry, upgrading the Elefsina shipyards area with new broader economic activities, as well as in the critical sector of applied research and innovation. This is a strategy that undoubtedly opens new significant prospects for the Greek economy and Greek society. Particularly the willingness, expressed through the US Development Finance Corporation, to invest significant capital in the country in strategic investments, opens the path for new strong American investments in our homeland – investments that mean thousands of new jobs and better prospects for all Greeks.”
