Developments have been sparked by the major event of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security «ReBrain Greece» that took place last Sunday in New York, with the participation of more than 1,500 Greeks from the USA and Canada. The vast majority of participants were from New York, while many came from Boston, and several from Canada. Greeks came from Connecticut (neighboring New York), from Florida in the southeastern tip of the USA, Minnesota in the northernmost states, and California on the other side of the United States – even from Alaska, Arizona, Ohio, and Houston.
ReBrain Greece: The elite CEOs of major Greek companies answer Niki Kerameos’ call
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos, explained to interested parties the professional opportunities that have developed in the modern Greek labor market, which has now become particularly attractive and competitive. At the same time, she emphasized that the economic and employment conditions now prevailing in our country are very different from those that led them to leave for abroad during the crisis years.
A key point, according to information from the diaspora community, was the presence of heads of major Greek companies from several different sectors. The fact that chief executives from large groups were there and participated in interviews with interested parties showed the genuine interest of companies to attract Greeks from America and offer them well-paid positions. This element, according to the same sources, worked particularly positively and contributed to several hirings being set in motion in the following days and the maturation of thoughts about returning and resettling in Greece among many participants.
Specifically, the 15 chief executives of leading Greek companies who traveled to New York to attend «ReBrain Greece» were the following:
- Christos Megalou – CEO Piraeus Bank
- Eftychios Vassilakis – CEO Aegean Airlines
- Achilleas Konstantakopoulos – CEO TEMES
- Dimitris Koutsopoulos – CEO DELOITTE
- Dimitris Spyridis – CEO Hellenic Healthcare Group (Hygeia, Mitera, Metropolitan)
- Manolis Doulgerakis – CEO IASO
- Themis Charamis – CEO Errikos Dynan Hospital
