Parliamentary confrontation reached fever pitch as Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and Course of Freedom leader Zoe Konstantopoulou crossed swords in a heated exchange. Venomous remarks flew from both sides amid the backdrop of Diamantis Karanastasis’s resignation from his parliamentary position. The confrontation began when Konstantopoulou declared that “you tell bottomless lies from the day Diamantis Karanastasis said he couldn’t stand your filth and resigned. For a whole week the entire government has been raising dust. You think you’ll cover up the clean people. Diamantis is elected by his own sword, yet you call him appointed.” She insisted she never appointed any MP, as Course of Freedom didn’t enter Parliament in May 2023, and showed a TikTok video featuring New Democracy’s parliamentary spokesperson Makarios Lazaridis.
“What happened? Does your parliamentary representative bother you? Listen to Makarios Lazaridis flattering Diamantis and then insulting him,” Zoe Konstantopoulou said, playing the video and provoking strong reactions from presiding officer Vassilis Villiardos and others.
Georgiadis against Konstantopoulou: You insult the Rules with vulgar behavior
“We saw an unacceptable show, you insult the Rules with vulgar behavior!” Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis accused, commenting that citizens are beginning to understand “her true face” and that’s why recent polls show Course of Freedom below Voice of Reason.
Regarding resigned Diamantis Karanastasis, the Health Minister insisted he was appointed, though commenting that “to some extent your love for him is touching.” The confrontation escalated when Konstantopoulou called him a “liar” and “incorrigible and unrepentant liar.” At that moment, Giorgos Lambroulis also reacted when Konstantopoulou emphasized that the Communist Party “has removed an elected MP from the lists,” with the Parliament Vice-President, who was sitting in the Communist Party benches, shouting angrily: “you’re lying! Prove it!” before immediately leaving the chamber. “Does the truth hurt? Didn’t you remove Digenis and Fonsou from the lists?” the Course of Freedom leader wondered.
Konstantopoulou: “You showed us your Hitlerian face”
Responding angrily, Adonis Georgiadis commented: “God loves the thief and the householder. You are the thief. Don’t interrupt me! Ill-mannered! Stop! Your parents didn’t teach you manners and you do this in Parliament,” he argued, giving congratulations to Dimitris Ouggarezos against the backdrop of his public confrontation with Zoe Konstantopoulou on television. He maintained that Diamantis Karanastasis was “completely nonexistent” in Parliament and that “he got bored and resigned.”
“You showed us your Hitlerian face. I thought I was seeing Papadopoulos the way you acted,” Zoe Konstantopoulou commented. Immediately after, Georgiadis, mimicking Zoe Konstantopoulou’s manner, said that “the lady of Love has come here only to be an accuser of others. You are the filth for not apologizing to those you accused who were acquitted. You spoke about Papastavrou, you should light a candle in church for your sins to be forgiven for all the slander against him. If you had a soul and weren’t filthy, you would apologize to him,” Adonis Georgiadis maintained.
