Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, one of Europe’s largest startup companies in the field of artificial intelligence, at the Maximos Mansion. During the meeting, they explored potential areas of collaboration, focusing on the possibility of training large language models within the European artificial intelligence ecosystem, better adaptation of existing and new models to the Greek language, and knowledge exchange with emphasis on training Greek researchers and scientists working in AI.
The Mitsotakis-Mensch meeting emphasized the importance of developing European technological solutions and Greece’s potential to contribute substantially in this direction, both thanks to its highly specialized human resources and new infrastructure, such as the under-construction artificial intelligence factory “PHAROS” and the supercomputer “DAEDALUS”.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Greek Government and Mistral AI, aimed at better utilizing AI in public administration, developing new digital solutions for citizens’ benefit, using AI in sectors where Greece has comparative advantages such as shipping, and training Greek students and graduates in Mistral’s specialization programs.
The meeting also included, from the Greek Government side, Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, Special Secretary for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance Vasilis Karkatzounes, and Special Secretary for Long-term Planning Giannis Mastrogeorgiou.
