The brother of Evangelia Fragkiadaki is expected to be brought before the Heraklion Prosecutor in the coming hours, after police issued an arrest warrant against him following orders from the Heraklion investigator.
The deceased woman’s brother is allegedly involved, according to the indictment, in the double homicide in Vorizia, which is why the arrest warrant was issued. According to journalistic sources, he surrendered to authorities and was arrested. The same sources report that the man denies any involvement in the case.
It should be noted that from the Fragkiadaki side, four brothers and one cousin have been arrested, while from the side of the murdered Fanouris Kargakis, three people have been arrested. Among them is a 23-year-old who just yesterday was temporarily released with restrictive conditions following a disagreement between the prosecutor and investigator over whether he should be remanded in custody. This is the young man accused by police of planting the bomb at a Fragkiadaki family member’s house on Friday evening, which triggered the bloodbath the next morning that left two dead and at least four wounded.
Within five days, the Council must decide whether the 23-year-old, whose father is already in pretrial detention for the same case, should be remanded in custody or not.
