Another defendant in the criminal organization case that illegally collected subsidies from OPEKEPE was ordered to be held in pretrial detention after his testimony. This is the 40th defendant to appear before the European Investigating Judge, who was arrested following a warrant issued against him.

According to evidence from the European Prosecutor’s investigation, the defendant who received illegal subsidies is attributed a critical role in the operation of the criminal group.
With today’s decision by the Investigating Judge and the assigned European Prosecutor, there are now 14 defendants in pretrial detention for this case, while one female defendant has been placed under house arrest.
It is estimated that other individuals involved in the case under investigation will appear before judicial authorities in the coming days.
