The 39-year-old Fanouris Kargakis, who was killed in the vendetta in Vorizia, Heraklion, left behind a wife and five children. His vehicle was hit by multiple gunshots, a scene that has shocked the island.
The victim’s mother, speaking on the show “Revelations,” named the families she considers responsible for the tragedy: “The Fragiadakis and Stivaktakis families. They killed my boy. All I know is that they are responsible for everything that happened, the Fragiadakis family.”
She described the events of the night of the attack: “They went and shot up my son-in-law’s and his brother’s house. The next day, while police were in the village because of what happened the night before, they went up to where the church is and started shooting at my son-in-law’s and his brother’s houses again, and any other house of our family that was nearby.”
Vorizia: “I saw all the Fragiadakis family,” says Fanouris Kargakis’s mother
According to the victim’s mother, the perpetrators “left the church and came down to the road where they came upon my son who was passing by in his car and executed him in cold blood.”
“I went down to the road and saw them all holding weapons and shooting my son,” she added, mentioning names of family members she accuses: “I saw all the Fragiadakis family – Manousos, Giannis, Andreas, Kostis and their father. With them was also their cousin, Stivaktakis Manousos.”
The mother also claimed there had been previous incidents of violence: “Last summer Kostis Fragiadakis had stabbed my grandson and the Fragiadakis family with their cousin shot up their car again. Then they promised they wouldn’t bother us again, but they didn’t keep their word. They kept bothering and provoking us.”
“They all had weapons and were shooting my boy and killed him. I want them all to be punished,” she concluded.
