A 16-year-old student experienced an absolute nightmare while walking home from school in Cholargos. Specifically, the minor, as she reported to police, was walking toward her home on 17th November Street on Friday afternoon, November 7th, when she noticed a group of young men following her.
Cholargos: How the 16-year-old reacted
Despite her terror, according to ERT sources, the 16-year-old reacted with complete composure. Specifically, she pretended not to have seen them, discreetly quickened her pace, followed a route with more foot traffic, until she entered a liquor store to deceive them into thinking she was making a purchase, but instead hid and asked the employee for help.
The perpetrators, as seen in the documentary video footage secured by ERTnews, had set up an ambush for the minor and were waiting for the moment she would exit the business to attack her. The man dressed in black takes a few steps toward the square to avoid suspicion but returns to the spot to maintain visual contact. His two accomplices are positioned on the opposite side of the street.
The 16-year-old’s mother explained to ERTnews that she was informed by her terrified daughter who called her on her mobile phone. “A woman working at the liquor store saw my daughter hiding behind the glass. She explained what happened and told her to go inside the business while she watched their movements and simultaneously called the police. By the time police arrived, they had left. We all gave statements while security personnel collected footage from security cameras.”
In her statement, the 16-year-old described three men dressed in black, of young age, who spoke broken Greek. According to police sources, a similar incident occurred just days earlier at a bar located nearby. In that case, young girls also noticed a group of young foreign men following them.
Authorities, within just five days of the first incident and after analyzing video footage, located and arrested the gang members who had been spreading fear and terror among young girls in the area on Wednesday evening.
