Police investigations are in full swing regarding the murder of 42-year-old Giannis Lalas, who was executed with a Kalashnikov on Saturday, November 1st at a hotel in Arachova. The 42-year-old had previously survived an assassination attempt in May 2025 in Ano Liosia, also with a Kalashnikov, but was saved thanks to his armored vehicle, which came under fire shortly after he left the gas station he owned in the area. According to sources, specific individuals were investigated for that attack, but no arrests were made.
How the murder of Giannis Lalas occurred at the Arachova hotel
The 42-year-old who was murdered by unknown assailants on Saturday evening (01/11) had previously attracted media attention as he had been accused in connection with the murder of journalist Giorgos Karaivaz. According to information from police sources, the 42-year-old had gone with a woman and two other couples to a hotel near Arachova. According to the same sources, the perpetrators were monitoring the victim’s movements and when he stepped out onto the hotel balcony, they opened fire on him with a Kalashnikov. The 42-year-old lost his life instantly, as he received multiple bullets and sustained injuries throughout his body. Subsequently, the woman who was with him notified the authorities about the incident. The investigation into the 42-year-old’s murder has been taken over by the Organized Crime Unit, with its officers trying to map the movements of the executioners through testimonies and analysis of video footage.
