Under strict security measures, the 23-year-old who killed the 52-year-old man in Elos Kissamou on Sunday afternoon was brought before the Chania prosecutor shortly after 2 PM.
The young man was wearing a bulletproof vest, as fears of retaliation acts in the local community remain particularly intense.

The perpetrator, who surrendered to police authorities on Monday morning, appeared before the prosecutor to face related criminal charges. According to sources, he is expected to request time to provide his defense before the investigating magistrate and give his own version of what transpired.

The young man’s appearance at the courthouse took place under heavy police guard, while the bulletproof vest given to him was deemed necessary by authorities due to the tension prevailing in the area following the murder.
The murder occurred on Sunday afternoon during a festival in Elos, when the 23-year-old approached the 52-year-old man, who was enjoying himself with friends, and shot him three times in the chest at close range.
