Panos Routsi, father of a victim from the Tempe tragedy, returned to Syntagma Square on Sunday evening, continuing his fight for memory and justice for the children who were lost that night.
In a deeply moving statement, Mr. Routsi responded to the Prime Minister’s words, emphasizing that the children “were not sacrificed” but “were murdered”, while calling on those who supported him in recent days to remain by his side.
“This won’t pass, we parents won’t let it happen. These children were murdered, they weren’t sacrificed as the Prime Minister said. We will be here to keep their memory alive,” he stated.
At the same time, he made a direct appeal to authorities and the Prime Minister, asking for no tensions to arise:
“Mr. Prime Minister, I beg you, don’t do anything to these children. And to the police I say: what would you do if these were your own children here? We are peaceful, we are not the threat.”
Panos Routsi reiterated that he will remain at Syntagma Square “until the end”, calling out the victims’ names every night, as he said, “so they are never forgotten.”
