Awaiting toxicology report findings
Medical examiner Simos Mesogitis, who performed the autopsy on the body of the 16-year-old vocational high school student from Tavros, is awaiting the toxicology examination results in an attempt to reach safe conclusions regarding her cause of death. The experienced medical examiner examined the girl’s body without discovering any particular findings and is waiting for the results of special examinations to determine the actual causes from which the unfortunate girl died. Up to this moment, there have been no arrests by police despite the fact that the minor consumed alcohol at a well-known nightclub in Gazi. This violation alone, given that the law regarding alcohol sales has been tightened since last year, should have already led to the arrest of the establishment’s manager.
Meanwhile, authorities are awaiting the report from the General State Laboratory to determine whether the alcohol bottles confiscated from the establishment were “clean” or adulterated. However, the fact that several hours passed from the moment the young student’s death occurred until the confiscation of the alcoholic bottles could have given someone the opportunity to remove any potentially dangerous drinks.
According to police officers from the Minors Department handling the case, the case file includes testimonies from friends of the 16-year-old student, eyewitnesses, and her relatives, but does not include the results of toxicological and histological examinations. These results, once received by the medical examiner and evaluated alongside other findings, will be submitted in report form to police officers to be sent to the competent prosecutor handling the case.
