A deadline to testify on Friday (24/10) afternoon was granted to the 18-year-old in Trikala who killed his mother, suffocating her with a bathroom towel. It should be noted that he has been charged with premeditated murder. The 54-year-old woman, who according to information had never given cause for comments or problems in the neighborhood, had divorced her husband. Their 18-year-old son lived with his father, while he visited his mother along with his sister on some weekends, as area residents report.
According to information, arguments between the 54-year-old and her son were frequent. However, yesterday, without any prior tension between them and while they were watching television together, the 18-year-old got up, went to the bathroom, took a towel, returned to the living room and with complete composure wrapped the towel around his mother’s neck and strangled her. Afterwards, calm and composed, he called the police, confessing his act, and waited for the officers at his mother’s house to arrest him.

He reportedly told police that his mother had many partners, that she neglected him and abused him psychologically and physically, adding that he had previously thought about killing her. “My mother had many partners and this bothered me. She didn’t pay attention to me. She didn’t take care of me. She abused me psychologically and physically,” the 18-year-old reportedly said, among other things.
According to information available so far, the 18-year-old’s parents had divorced 10 years ago and the young man lived with his father near Trikala. The same sources indicate that the 18-year-old blamed his mother for the divorce, and as a consequence of this he reportedly suffered bullying from his classmates.
Neighbors mentioned that the 18-year-old visited his mother frequently, however they would argue as the young man had a problem with her behavior. The Forensic Medical Service of Larissa will conduct an autopsy to investigate the circumstances under which the crime occurred.
